Stephanie and Jessica are identical twins. When they are not watching the Food Network/Cooking Channel or experimenting in the kitchen, you can probably find them standing on their heads.

Stephanie is 12 minutes older; she graduated from Rutgers University’s School of Communication, Information, and Library Studies with a major in Journalism & Media Studies and a double minor in English and Political Science. She is currently employed as the Marketing Manager of Cookie Panache, an online bakery. She lives with her husband, David, in Manhattan. Follow her on Twitter: @stephanieblanco.

Jessica, the baby of the family, graduated from Barnard College with a degree in Sociology and a concentration in Childhood Education. She is currently working on a dual Masters degree in Early Childhood Special and General Education and Social Work at Bank Street College of Education and Columbia University School of Social Work. She teaches nursery school in Manhattan and lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Zeke.

Stephanie and Jessica grew up in Manhattan with their parents and older brother and sister. Whether baking cookies just because, or throwing dinner parties for their friends, they always liked to spend time in the kitchen (to their mother it seemed they were always making a mess in the kitchen, but they are actually very good at cleaning). Another hobby of theirs was photography, which escalated when they got their first digital camera, a Canon G2. Naturally, they took pictures of everything, including food that they made; it took a few years, but eventually The Kosher Foodies was born!

This blog is where Stephanie and Jessica share published recipes they’ve adapted, tried and loved, as well as original recipes they tested and developed. Many of their recipes are inspired by the classic Syrian and Middle Eastern dishes they grew up with, and some are new flavors they were introduced to later on in life.

The Kosher Foodies is for anyone and everyone; you don’t have to keep kosher, or even be Jewish, to enjoy the photographs and recipes on this site. But you will not find any bacon here, we don’t put cheese in our meatballs and we often bake with non-dairy substitutes.
